B-boying, or break dancing, originated in New York City in the early 70’s and is one of the Four Elements of Hip-Hop. In this physically demanding class, you’ll learn moves such as toprocking, uprocking, and freezes, as well as footwork and power moves. For continuing students as well as motivated beginners; B-girls welcome!

Poi spinning originated from the traditional performance art of the Maori people of New Zealand. It involves swinging balls on ropes in a variety of patterns; of special interest to belly dancers, it increases flexibility, strength and coordination in everyone. In this class, you will learn basic poi moves, as well as how to integrate them with dance. Poi will be available for loan or purchase.

The official state dance of both Carolinas and a favorite at the beach,
the shag has a smooth, relaxed Southern style with an easy swing,
precise footwork, and mirror-image partner steps. This class introduces
beginning students to the basic steps, as well as a number of variations
and turns. You need not bring a partner; smooth-soled shoes recommended.

This beginning-level class will combine the beauty and grace of dance with the exercise of hooping, an amazing cardiovascular work-out that strengthens and tones every major muscle group as it gives you a massage! A moving meditation, hooping is above all fun, putting a smile on your face as it transforms your body and elevates your spirit. Gyrokinesis® incorporates many key principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics and tai-chi. Class begins with self-massage and simple breathing patterns to awaken the body. Next, seated on low stools, the class will begin to mobilize the spine, hips, knees, hamstrings, and other body parts through a series of arching, curling, bending, twisting and spiraling movements in all possible directions. The corresponding breathing patterns stimulate the nervous system, open up the energy pathways and oxygenate the blood. For all fitness levels; stools are provided.

Taijiquan (T'ai-Chi) is a martial art and
exercise for overall well-being and conditioning--a system of meditative
