Alignment and Body Mechanics for Dancers
Learn techniques to improve balance, posture and alignment with the goal of enriching your movement potential. Through the use of imagery, illustrations and playful exercises, we will work on executing movements with greater efficiency and mobility, while being led through a full-body workout. Argentine Tango
Come learn the basics of the "salon" style of Argentine tango. Topics will include tango embrace, connection, posture, walking systems, improvisation and turns. No experience necessary; partner not required. FALL 2010

Belly Dance: Basics and Beyond
Come learn the art of classical Egyptian belly dance! Each workshop focuses on a different aspect; all steps for the combinations will be taught during the workshop, so no previous belly dance experience is required, and drop-ins are welcome. All together, this sequence of classes will provide the student with a dance vocabulary suitable for any Middle Eastern music. FALL 2010Saturdays, 2-4 pm

Hip-Hop 101

Hip-Hop in Heels!
This workshop will begin with a barefoot warm-up followed by a fun combination to be done in heels. Focus will be on the lines of the body, maturity of movement, and developing the confidence to dance in heels. Some dance experience recommended; no sweatpants, please. Krump
This workshop will introduce you to krump, an urban street dance which originated in South Central LA as an alternative to gangs and violence. Featured in the movies Rize and Stomp the Yard, it is characterized by rapid movements of the arms, legs, chest and feet and is becoming an important part of hip-hop culture. Latin Hip-Hop

Polynesian Dance
In this beginning-level workshop, you’ll be introduced to the basic techniques f Tahitian and Cook Island dance. Similar to hula but more energetic, these dance forms are very feminine and graceful and help to relax the body and the mind. FALL 2010Saturday, Nov. 6, 2-4 pm

Yogilates
Yogilates combines the best of yoga and Pilates for a challenging but fun workout. Yoga poses that increase core strength, release the hip flexors and stretch the back are a perfect complement to Pilates floor exercises, with use of the breath a focus throughout.
